Nima by 6SensorsLab Wins $50K Prize in Hardware Battlefield at CES

Nima by 6SensorLabs was fortunate enough to close CES on a rather positive note. The company was a finalist in the TechCrunch Hardware Battlefield 2016 and they triumphed over 3 impressive competitors. The victory was made just that much sweeter with a check of $50,000.

Nima 6SensorLabsThe San Francisco-based startup is crafting consumer tech so you know what is in your food. Their lead product is the Nima a device that will quickly (and accurately) test liquids and solids for gluten.  6SensorLabs is running a presale campaign now (the competition required either a crowdfunding or pretail campaign) so if you are someone who wants to dodge gluten you should check this out. Now I love my gluten so this would not be for me but the company is preparing for additional products that test for nuts, dairy, soy and more. Food allergies are a serious issue for many and 6SensorLabs may be the solution to test foods on the go.

And who were the other hardware companies the Nima beat?

Wiivv insoles and shoesWiivv, a company that produces 3D custom printed insoles came in second. The “body perfect” insole is said to reduce injury, improve athletic performance a make standing/walking/running a lot more enjoyable. If you are interested you can support this Kickstarter staff pick and receive a pair, or two, in March.

The last two finalists include Carbon Robotics and Sentinl – IdentiLock.

Katia Carbon roboticsCarbon Robotics has created a robotic arm at the price of a laptop. Called Katia (Kick Ass Trainable Intelligent Arm) the product is designed to be simple to use. I am not certain if it can be programmed to make breakfast but I still want one. You may sign up for presales here.

Sentinl IdentilockIdentiLock by Sentinl is a product that coincides with President Obama’s search for tech that adds security to guns. Using fingerprint technology the device allows only an approved user access to shoot the weapon. Pre-orders are available now, shipping Summer of this year.
