TuringSense Forms Partnership With A+Labs; Tennis Wearable Nears $140,000 on Indiegogo

TuringSense, a Silicon Valley wearable sports technology startup, and A+Labs, a smart device incubator, announced on Monday that they have reached an agreement for A+Labs to be TuringSense’s design and manufacturing partner for initial volume production of PIVOT, the most advanced wearable for tennis. As part of the agreement, A+Labs will provide a full package of production services for TuringSense including hardware design and debug to industrial design.

PivotTuringSense has developed breakthrough technology that features innovative multi-sensor, high-speed motion capture and analysis. The technology will revolutionize the way sports are played, practiced, and coached by transforming training methods that enable athletes to optimize technique and prevent injuries. Dr. Limin He, co-founder and CEO of TuringSense, stated:

“We believe our approach of partnering with an innovative and non-traditional incubator like A+Labs, which provides a full range of services, is the most capital efficient path to market. By working with A+Labs, we can scale up more quickly, at lower cost and with less risk.”

Dr. Huijun Qiao, partner of AngelPlus and founder/CEO of A+Labs, added:

“A+Labs mission is to offer smart hardware start-ups the state-of-the-art equipment and capabilities required to scale emerging technologies from design to production. We believe that the opportunities in the wearables market are unlimited for TuringSense’s technology. We look forward to taking the next step in bringing this innovative idea to market.”

Previously, TuringSense, and its partner, Hall of Fame coach Nick Bollettieri, launched a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo for PIVOT. The company revealed:

PIVOT 6“Tennis, throughout its centuries-old history, hasn’t fully harnessed the power of technology to elevate playing and training — until now! TuringSense created PIVOT to fill this gap. It’s the world’s first wearable for tennis with innovative multi-sensor, full body motion analysis that helps you master complex movements, avoid injuries and conquer the competition.

“What’s more, PIVOT incorporates Hall of Fame coach Nick Bollettieri’s unique training techniques into its coaching system. Bollettieri has developed many leading players including Andre Agassi, Jim Courier, Monica Seles, Maria Sharapova, Jelena Janković, Sabine Lisicki, Sara Errani, Venus and Serena Williams, Martina Hingis, Anna Kournikova, Kei Nishikori, and Boris Becker.”

PIVOT 5Here is how PIVOT works:

  1. Capture all the details of your movements.
  2. Receive real-time feedback and analysis.
  3. Understand and compare your performance with your 3D model.

So far, the PIVOT initiative has successfully secured nearly $140,000. It is set to close at the end of January.
