On Wednesday, Give To Cure launched #RememberWhen, a new social media campaign that gives Alzheimer’s patients and their families new hope by uniting friends, communities and caregivers to aid in bringing memories back while creating an everlasting “digital memory bank.”
Throughout the year, conversations with loved ones often start with “Remember when…?” Give To Cure’s #RememberWhen campaign asks family, friends and caregivers to document and post these special memories about the patient to social media with the hashtag #RememberWhen. Participation is easy. For those connected with Alzheimer’s, the campaign encourages the posting and sharing of video and photo tributes recounting simple moments of happiness or special memories shared with the loved one suffering from Alzheimer’s. Participants also can record #RememberWhen conversations with their loved ones now, as they try to spark memories over the holidays.
Adam Grossman, Give To Cure co-founder, shared:
“The holidays are a perfect time of year to rekindle the habit of capturing special family times together or looking through old pictures that may be special to an Alzheimer’s patient. As we look to the new year, the goal of the Give To Cure community is to continue to create the ultimate “memory bank” helping to spark patients’ memories. These memories can be shared around the world and will serve as a way to protect precious moments from ever being truly forgotten. “
He then added:
“#RememberWhen is more than acknowledging the incredible history of Alzheimer’s patients – its also about creating an insurance policy for people who may be diagnosed in the future. The #RememberWhen campaign will help create memory aids and permanent ‘digital memory bank’ to host these memories for the people that have made them.”
