Peak Design’s “Everyday Messenger” Nears $1.7M on Kickstarter; Startup Offers Backers a Chance to Try the Bag

Everyday Messenger 4

There is no stopping this bag! Late last month, creators of the Everyday Messenger, Peak Design, took to crowdfunding giant Kickstarter to raise only $100,000. The accessory quickly hit the spotlight and secured its initial goal. Now, just a little over two weeks later, the project has reached nearly $1.7 million thanks to 6,200 backers.

Everyday Messenger 3The Everyday Messenger is described as a “beautiful, intelligent and adaptable messenger bag” that is designed around the workflows of photographers, creative, travelers and commuters. Peak Designs notes that Everyday Messenger is more than a camera bag, it’s the user’s day-to-day essential carry workhorse and “does things other camera bags can’t.”

Features of the Everyday Messenger include:

  • Axial strap attachments that allow the strap to pivot without tangling.
  • 500D Kodra synthetic canvas shell is waxed and DWR-coated
  • Custom quick-adjust strap hardware for on-the-fly- cinching
  • Internally padded 2-inch seatbelt style strap
  • Padded, reinforced handled for briefcase style carry
  • 2 rigid EVA-foam-reinforced Capture clip attachment points
  • Gusseted front panel with 8 stretchy color-coded pockets

The Peak Designs team then shared:

Everyday Messenger 2“Since no two days are quite the same, we designed a shell that expands greatly to accommodate the perpetual ‘one last thing,’ and also lets the bag maintain its shapely figure when your load is light.”

Earlier this week, Peak Design announced backers (and potential backers) will be able to test out the Everyday Messenger in several cities. The company revealed in a post:

“The whole point of this Kickstarter is to bring a killer new messenger bag to life. Hence we do the very best we can to make sure our backers are familiar with every single nook and cranny of this thing. And let us ask you this: what better means of nook and cranny inspection does one have than their own two meathooks?

“That is why we’re giving you (well, those of you in ‘Merica) a chance to see, feel, demo, and even sniff The Everyday Messenger in a city near you.”

The demo tour (also known as “photowalks“) kicked off on Thursday in New York City. In tow will be the very first pre-production samples of The Everyday Messenger for backers to play with. Peak Design also revealed the other demo dates:

The campaign is set to close on September 20th.
