2nd Largest Kickstarter Campaign Ever to Ship this Month

The Coolest Cooler, a crowdfunded product that held the most funded ever title until it was usurped by the Pebble Smartwatch, has announced it will start shipping to backers the end of this month.  While delayed a bit, Coolest Cooler has continued to maintain ongoing communication with backers providing a play by play update of process and progress.  With over 62,000 backers, the majority of which expect a hi-tech cooler to be shipped, the undertaking is not without challenges.  Coolest founder Ryan Grepper partnered with Dragon Innovation to assist in the manufacturing and fulfillment process – a decision that most likely will aid in completion of backer rewards.

Grepper emailed campaign backers with the news;

Production of Coolest Coolers starts next week with the first shipment getting dropped off at the port on Friday July 24th!  Every week we’ll keep making more and more, and shipping them to you as fast as possible – just like we’ve laid out in the last few updates.

About 1 week before your Coolest shows up at your door, our fulfillment team will reach out one last time to confirm we still have the right shipping address. On another front we’re hoping to be able to double down on more tooling for even more capacity depending on Pre-Orders…

It will be interesting to see the transition from a highly successful crowdfunded product to a small business. Coolest Cooler recently launched a new web site Coolest.com to allow ongoing pre-orders beyond Kickstarter rewards.

Coolest Cooler originally launched in the winter of 2013 and failed to achieve its $125,000 goal.  Instead of calling it a day, Grepper regrouped and relaunched in 2014 and quickly crushed all previous Kickstarter records closing at over $13 million in contributions.
