Bluetooth Headset “Dot” Exceeds Campaign Goal First Hour on Kickstarter

 

California tech startup So Special Labs, recently launched a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter to raise funds for what he believes is the world’s smallest Bluetooth headset. Within the first hour, the project exceeded its initial goal of $30,000 and is now sitting at nearly $130,000 from over 1,400 backers.

The company revealed that the focus of Dot was in its compact design. By being extremely lightweight and ultra small (3.5g feather weight), users can enjoy crystal clear sound throughout the entire day. While traditional headphone users often complain of fatigue from big, bulky headsets, Dot solves that problem and also comes with different sized silicone earbuds for kids and adults of all ages.

Another feature that Dot has is its long-lasting battery life. Included with the device is a carrying case that doubles as a wireless charger. Just re-insert the earbud into the case for charging on the go. Dot can be fully charged in 30 minutes and the wireless charging case has enough battery life to recharge Dot up to six times. Music time of 6 hours is achieved using the device in combination with the portable charging case. Call time of 9 hours is also achieved with combination of the portable case. It has 80 hours of standby time.

Dot utilizes LED indicator lights for easy pairing and charging functionality – no apps required. Using the latest Bluetooth 4.0 technology, Dot can even wirelessly connect with up to 8 Apple, Android and Windows devices. That means Dot is compatible with the Apple iPhone/iPad, Samsung Galaxy/Note and HTC smartphones.

Those who back early the project can receive Dot’s dual set of earbuds for $79. Once the early bird special is gone, the buds will be $89.

The campaign is set to close on August 6th.
