Kickstarter Success Edyn Launches General Availability of Garden Sensor and Digs Exclusive Retail Partnership With Home Depot

Edyn, the smart garden system that allows you to interact with and nurture your garden like never before, today announced general availability in North America for its flagship product, the Edyn Garden Sensor.

Edyn 5Edyn educates users about their garden by collecting real-time data through the sensor and shares information and tips through the corresponding application, empowering users to save on water usage and ultimately make their plants thrive. The product will be available online on Home Depot while the free Edyn mobile application is available in the iTunes App Store and the Google Play Store.

Edyn Garden Sensor debuted on Kickstarter last year where it raised more than three times its fundraising goal and became the most successful agricultural tech product funded on the platform to-date. The agriculture tech industry is having a breakout year, growing over 170 percent and receiving over $2.36 billion in investment in 2014, with new hardware technologies and big data collection primarily driving momentum.

Jason Aramburu, CEO and founder of Edyn, commented:

Jason Aramburu“What started out as a vision to help farmers better manage their crops has now transformed into a reality where people can connect with their food and gardens in an entirely new way. Kickstarter validated Edyn as a tool that enables everyone to grow a thriving garden, and taking the product from concept to retail in a year has allowed us to help everyone garden smarter and change the way people grow food.”

Founded by soil scientist Jason Aramburu, and designed by Yves Béhar and his team at fuseproject, Edyn is a solar-powered garden sensor that reports on soil nutrition, soil moisture, humidity, temperature and sunlight, so users stay connected to their gardens no matter where they are. The Edyn Garden Sensor constantly monitors its environment and uses Wi-Fi to send live data to the Edyn app.

The Edyn app displays this data as a real-time snapshot and educates users about the plants that will grow best, the optimal time for planting and even plant groupings with the same conditional needs. The sensor works alongside the Edyn Water Valve, a smart irrigation controller that connects with existing watering systems to deliver the right amount of water to plants without waste.

Edyn Garden Sensor’s features include:

  • Edyn 2Solar-powered (in addition to a rechargeable lithium iron phosphate battery when not in full sun)
  • Wi-Fi enabled and connects to the cloud
  • Water and fertilizer resistant
  • Able to measure ambient temperature, humidity, light intensity, soil electrical conductivity and soil capacitance.
  • Run through the Edyn iOS app, which reports soil nutrition, moisture, light and temperature in a clear snapshot of your garden, now and over time. It also provides guidance on how to maximize plant health

Edyn Garden Sensor is now available for $99.97.
