Hoping for another successful crowdfunding experience, Slovak startup, CulCharge launched a campaign on Indiegogo last week to raise $60,000 for its self-titled 3-in-1 keychain. Within only 31 hours, the project quickly gained its initial goal.
CulCharge is a small charger on a keychain that allows users to charge and sync data with Apple iPhones equipped with lightning connector, as well as Android, Windows, and Blackberry phones equipped with microUSBs. This device provides a solution for people on-the-go. It is equipped with a 1000mAh battery and may also provide a charge outlet through a charge cable from other sources or act as a data cable.
In 2013, CulCharge set out with a goal to raise $15K through Indiegogo for a simple product, the smallest data and charge cable available worldwide. In summer 2013, the campaign concluded just shy of reaching $100K with over 3,000 backers from 71 countries in 40 days. The CulCharge team was able to source a reliable manufacturer and ship the CulCharge cables on time to backers with 100% backer satisfaction.
In regards to any risk and challenges it may face, the company shared:
“Since we already went successfully through one Indiegogo campaign 2 years ago, we know all the processes from prototyping, through time & money management, setting up manufacturing line, MFi licensing, to the successful shipping of final products to all our Indiegogo backers. We learned a lot during this exciting project, and since then have improved all the processes to much higher level. We are cooperating with very experienced MFi certified manufacturer, and we are following all the rules in order to reduce the risks to the minimum.”
CulCharge intends to begin to ship the PowerBank in December 2015. In addition, Deutsche Telekom also placed a preorder of $50K in the first day of the PowerBank crowdfunding campaign.
