adam shaw“Mobile, gamification and entrepreneurship are the big trends shaping the decade and Ideas Britain combines all of them in one exciting new venture with international opportunities,” Adam Shaw, Founder and CEO of Ideas Britain, said. “Our Crowdcube funding drive will allow the development of an Android version of our IOS app and lay the foundations of our international expansion including Ideas America, Germany, Austria and Switzerland.”

ideas britainThe crowdfunded investment will help the platform to grow further, expand internationally, and finance more competitions that empower everyday people to make ideas happen. Ideas Britain aims to be more than an incubator or a fund, it is an open community of creative and innovative people who want to share ideas and make sure the best ones succeed. It is designed for the next generation of entrepreneurs who want engaging, collaborative and gamified ways of developing new business ideas – and making them happen. It is the first platform to combine mobile, gamification and social to incentivise and reward creative entrepreneurialism.

With its mobile app launching this autumn, Ideas Britain has already recruited a panel of elite coaches, including Eurythmics frontman and arts entrepreneur Dave Stewart (who is currently fundraising for FAB Financial on Crowdfunder), former Dyson CEO Martin McCourt and Jan Collins, Head of Business Network Services at Virgin Media Business.

dave stewart“For me the really cool thing about Ideas Britain is that it is open to anyone with a great idea. No old boy’s network, no invite-only hobnobbing,” Dave Stewart, Creative Director, Ideas Britain, shared. “Just a really simple way to make sure the best ideas get the attention they deserve. Crowdfunding ties in nicely with this inclusive ethos: just as anyone can submit an idea to the platform, now anyone can share in its future success.”

(Would Dave Stewart lie to you?  Can’t resist an Eurythmics reference here.)  Ideas Britain’s partners and elite coaches have also donated prizes to be selected at random for investors. These include an evening with Dave Stewart and friends, a collection of chocolates every month for a year courtesy of Louis Barnett, tickets to a premier league football match in 2015/16 and a TIVO box free for a year.

ideas britain“Dubbed ‘Dragons Den for the mobile generation,” the unique app combines the elements of incubators, accelerators and mentoring all within a mobile device,” shared the platform. “It allows users to submit an idea in as little as 140 characters and get support from a global community who can virtually invest.” Ideas Britain research found that while 40% of Brits believe they have a world-changing idea, only 16% have acted on it – with fear, a lack of contacts, and insufficient know-how cited as big barriers.  Alongside the support and confidence from the crowd, and the know-how of Britain’s business elite, Ideas Britain hopes to provide multimedia entrepreneurial resources that encourage anyone to “have a go.”
