Inventor, artist, and CEO Lorenzo Maggiore announces the launch of the new, more powerful, and deadlier than ever BUG-A-SALT 2.0 has hit global crowdfunding platform Indiegogo.
Inspired by his father, a veteran of the US Marine Corp, and the breakout hit film, American Sniper, Maggiore is dedicating his limited “Camofly” edition to the men and women who have served our country.
Like a miniaturized shotgun, which uses ordinary table salt as a lethal, non-toxic projectile, the BUG-A-SALT has an accuracy range of within three feet, leaves bugs whole for easy cleanup, and is a surefire fun way to enjoy a disgusting task.
Upgrades of the Bug-A-Salt 2.0 include:
- Increased power for more range
- Less salt per shot for minimal cleanup
- Texturized handgrip
- Quick action safety for increased rate of fire
- Redesigned stronger material that eliminates broken gear problems
Insect hunting as sport entered the 21st century when the BUG-A-SALT gun was launched on Indiegogo, in 2012, raising over $577,000. The campaign launch led to a Wall Street Journal front-page story featuring Lorenzo and the BUG-A-SALT gun. Ultimately, all of the press BUG-A-SALT received from the platform, led to millions of video views online, and tremendous sales growth over the past two years, and we feel this will translate well into a charitable cause.
Maggiore stated, “[The] product has been perfected with more power, using less salt – and clearly surpasses the original engineering and design. BUG-A-SALT has had a great success story and I’d like to return some of my good fortune to help veterans. My father served this country as a Marine, and I feel a large part of my good fortune is due to his principals and morals, and I’d like to honor his memory.”
BUG-A-SALT has pledged to donate five dollars from each sold to a military veterans fund, with the goal of raising over $50,000 for veterans.
Since its debut on Wednesday (February 4th), the BUG-A-SALT project has raised $36,261. It is set to close on March 7th.
