Dashbon, a New Jersey-based tech startup, recently launched a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo to raise $50,000 for its new mobile boombox known as Flicks.
According to its description, Flicks is a mobile “party powerhouse” that is perfect for indoor and outdoor fun because it’s 100% cordless. Its full-color RGB LED light source delivers high quality image with superior color saturation, along with 700 LED brightness in brilliant 720p HD with Texas Instruments’ DLP technology. Flicks comes in two packages, Standard or Range (a smaller but powerful form of the standard boombox).
Flicks’ unique design features an airtight enclosure that includes two custom designed neodymium speakers with wide dynamic range and a subwoofer with bass radiator system to create amazing sound clarity with crystal-clear highs and heart-pounding bass at any volume.
Along with its impressive sound, Flicks’ battery life is known as “extremely power efficient.” The Dashbon team stated, “With a battery life of up to 4 hours of continuous blockbuster movies playtime or up to incredible 28 hours of continuous Bluetooth music playback on standard Flicks or up to 8 hours of continuous blockbuster movies playtime or up to an amazing 56 hours of continuous Bluetooth music playback on Flicks Range, Dashbon Flicks gives you the power and portability you need to enjoy a world of entertainment.”
They then added,“Take out your favorite streaming media device – Roku Streaming Stick, Google Chromecast, or Amazon Fire TV Stick – and connect it to Dashbon Flicks’ built-in HDMI port. Take advantage of the huge battery that’s built into Dashbon Flicks. To power your streaming stick, just plug the USB cable to Dashbon Flicks’ USB charge-out port. Sit back and enjoy a world of entertainment for hours in brilliant HD.”

Explaining Dashbon’s history, the team stated, “We are a team of engineers always looking to have fun when we get together or with our family and friends. That’s why we are so excited and passionate about the Flicks. We as a team have designed and created a lot of products throughout our career, but none of those products have given us so much fun.
“We’ve taken our prototype Flicks to camping trips with our friends and threw a backyard party with it, so we know how much fun it is to have a boombox with super bright portable projector and built-in battery for your movies and music and never have to worry about looking for wall outlets.
“We spent the past 13 months perfecting the optical, thermal, and acoustic designs of the Flicks before we presented our revolutionary product to the world in CES 2015 at Las Vegas. And we dazzled everyone on the show floor.”
Set to close on March 5th, Flicks has already raised nearly $20,000. Dashbon noted that the product is expected to ship in May/June 2015.
