Renewable energy crowdfunding platform Abundance is offering an end of the year special for investors participating in their largest crowdfunded solar investment ever. All new and existing investors will receive a “2% uplift” to any investment between now and the end of the year. The current project is Oakapple Berwickshire, described as Europe’s largest ever crowdfunded solar energy project which is seeking £3.1 million. According to the site funding has already surpassed £367,000 with 297 investors. According to Abundance this project will install solar panels on the roofs of hundreds of properties owned by the Berwickshire Housing Association, giving tenants up to a 30% reduction in their energy bills (without costing them anything) and will provide investors an effective rate of return of 7.5% p.a. for the 20 year term of the project.

“We want to say thank you to our members old and new for investing ever larger amounts in the ethical ‘Win-Win’ projects we are offering, and at this time of year a Christmas Bonus seems the perfect way to do it. Although the project currently open for investment is filling up swiftly, it is our largest to date at a total capacity of £3 million, so nobody should be disappointed between now and the end of the year.”
Abundance has raised over £8.1 million since launch.
