3D Printer Includes Scanner & Laser Engraver.
Just when you thought the 3D printing craze had moved beyond crowdfunding and straight to retail, another really cool project comes along. FLUX 3D printer is an “all in one” device that is crowdfunding on Kickstarter now and has blasted past its $100,000 goal and stands at about $1.1 million today having topped $1 million on Wednesday. The first $100k was surpassed in only 2 hours and 40 minutes.
The fourth stretch goal (1M) has been achieved, which is WIFI INSIDE! http://t.co/SLe9hp1yaH #FLUX #FLUXmodular pic.twitter.com/vWiN1zUaeV

Yes every household will soon have their very own 3D printer wirelessly connected to all of your computers, phones and tablets – but wouldn’t it be nice to have one that does it all. Well hear is your chance. FLUX not only prints in 3D but also can scan items to replicate AND has a laser engraver as part of the package. This is the 3D printer that I want now. Unfortunately you have to wait until 2015 to get one but luckily you can back this project and be one of the first. The early bird offers are long gone but you can still support this project at the $599 level for one of the coolest 3D printers that will soon be one the market (adding the Laser engraver costs a bit more).
FLUX is a creation of a “young but professional” group of entrepreneurs from Taiwan. They state they benefit from many experienced mentors, advisors and motivators behind the scene. As part of the development process, FLUX has already created 4 different prototypes and 30 different working unites as they chart a path to volume production. They have also collaborated with the team at Discovery – an entity that provides “affordable hardware add on solutions” making things a bit easier for the FLUX team to deliver. So this crowdfunding campaign is sizing up to be straight pretail offer with prototypes in the queue just need to place the manufacturing order.
So the stretch goals have each quickly been met with the final one being incorporating Wi-Fi at the $1 million mark. No word if the project creators will do another stretch round. But with over 3 weeks left to go – they certainly should consider it.
If you are curious as to how it compares to other 3D printers FLUX has posted a short table of other machines. Alternatively you can head over to Make where they have a list of criteria to compare.
