Indiegogo-Success Stone Brewing Company Announces Columbus-Only Beer as a “Thank You” For Welcoming Them

During this past summer, Escondido, California-based Stone Brewing Company hit Indiegogo to raise $1,000,000 for expansion of its amazing beer. During its run, from July 19th to August 29th, the project raised $2,531,775 through nearly 14,000 backers.  Not only did it become extremely successful, the campaign also became one of the most funded on the crowdfunding giant’s platform. Now the company is ready to share expansion news.

Stone Brewing Company 2Stone Brewing Company had discussed the idea of expanding its business and planting roots in various cities, including Columbus, Ohio; Richmond, Virginia; and Norfolk, Virginia. Each set out to create a campaign showing why Stone Brew had to pick them over the others. Columbus brewing lovers launched the Stone2Cbus campaign, which was dubbed the “Grassroots effort to help bring Stone Brewing Co. to Columbus.”

According to the Columbus Dispatch, Stone Brew announced Richmond would be the place that the new brewery would be placed. Upon sharing the news, and breaking many hearts in Columbus, Stone’s founders, Greg Koch and Steve Wagner, revealed that the company has created its very own Columbus-only brew as a token of their appreciation.

In a letter addressed to the folks behind the Stone2Cbus movement, including its founder Tony Tanner, Koch and Wagner wrote, “Rather than simply, ‘thank you,’ we want to go the extra mile like the people of Columbus did. Soon, we will brew a special Stone beer that will only be made available in one place – central Ohio. This is no consolation prize. It’s us expressing our gratitude in the best way we can imagine.”

“You killed it on multiple fronts, We were truly touched. Never have we seen something quit like your outreach to us. The Stone2Cbus campaign made it abundantly clear how much Central Ohio wanted us, and, for that, we are immensely grateful.”

Stone Brewing thanked the Columbus craft brewer, who met and welcomed Stone, including Columbus Brewing Co., Elevator Brewery, Draught Haus, Four Strings Brewing Co., and Seventh Son Brewing Co. Tanner revealed that Stone’s Columbus brew will be an India Pale Ale, also known as an IPA, the company’s signature style. Though, Stone did not mention what it would be in its letter. He then added, “If that’s the case, it would be nice if it were a double. I hope they use Columbus hops.”
