Zach Braff “Wish I Was Here” – Opens This Friday

The Bloom Family Wish I Was Here

One of the biggest names in film crowdfunding, Zach Braff’s “Wish I Was Here” is scheduled to hit cinemas across the country this Friday, July 18th.  The film raised $3.1 million crowdfunding on Kickstarter in May of 2013.  More than 46,000 fans supported the project validating a process of crowdfunding films.  The film is the 15th most funded project on Kickstarter today and the 2nd most funded film – bested only by Veronica Mars.  The Mars Wish I Was Here Opens July 18thfilm raised $5.7 million and closed just a month prior to Braff’s successful project.

The film is about Aidan Bloom (played by Braff), a struggling actor, father and husband, who at 35 is still trying to find his identity and a purpose for his life. He and his wife are barely getting by financially as they struggle with family, responsibility and more.  As funds run out for private school, Aidan is compelled to home school his kids.  Braff stars alongside Kate Hudson in this dramatic – comedy.  I am certain the film is much better than the description above.

The film is scheduled to open up in approximately 60 theaters across the country distributed by Focus Features, the “art house film” division of NBCUniversal.
