WATCH: Danae Ringelmann On How To Build A “Gatekeeper-Free Crowdfunding System”

This short video from The Guardian features Indiegogo’s Danae Ringelmann. In the video, she discusses Indiegogo’s approach to building what she calls a “gatekeeper-free crowdfunding system,” which is almost certainly a bit of a jab at compatriot platform Kickstarter. Kickstarter takes a curational approach to crowdfunding whereas Indiegogo basically allows anyone on their platform with a few minor exceptions. She calls Indiegogo the “largest global gatekeeper-free crowdfunding platform in the world.”

Interestingly, she also says that open platforms like hers actually help the gatekeepers by providing a way to prove the viability of ideas. (Venture capitalists would probably agree.)
