Misfit Shine Makes Good On Promise Of Android App To Crowdfunding Backers

Misfit ShineMisfit Wearables launched a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo in November of last year for the Misfit Shine, a wearable activity tracker that aimed to compete with other stalwarts in the space like offerings from Nike and Fitbit. The campaign raised over $800,000, which makes it one of the most successful Indiegogo campaigns of all time.

In the aftermath of the successful raise, Misfit Wearables shared a revelation that an accompanying Android app wasn’t going to ship with the device. It was a big letdown for backers that were banking on support for Android devices. A lack of Android support in the activity tracker space is a pain point for many users of the world’s most used smartphone software.

Today Misfit Wearables has announced that after a lot of hard work, the company has finally released that Android app. The app will run on any Android device that supports Bluetooth Low-Energy (BLE).

Unfortunately, the launch of the app has bee accompanied by a two-star review with 11 users giving the app only one star. Some are complaining of buggy functionality. There seem to be problems with some users being able to log in. Misfit Wearables is being responsive to negative reviews and has already said that an update to fix certain bugs is forthcoming.
